A-PILLAR MIRROR TRIANGLE TRIM, LEFT
The Left A-Pillar Mirror Triangle Trim (Tesla OEM 1130655, also known as the Ext Mirror A-Pillar Applique LH) is the triangular black ABS plastic trim panel that fills the junction between the front door mirror housing and the A-pillar at the base of the windshield on the Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model Y. It is positioned on the front left (driver-side) door, fitting snugly between the mirror base and the door glass run seal. The paired right-side unit is Tesla OEM 1130656. Later Model Y production uses updated numbers 1495632 (LH) and 1495633 (RH).
On the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y, the exterior door mirror is mounted to the door at an angular base that leaves a triangular gap between the mirror housing and the A-pillar where the door meets the front windshield. The 1130655 triangle trim fills this gap. Its functions are: sealing the joint to prevent wind noise intrusion at the A-pillar corner during motorway driving; covering the mirror mounting bolts and harness entry point at the door face; and maintaining the vehicle’s clean, aerodynamic exterior profile between the windshield and door mirror.
The trim is clip-mounted to the mirror base and door frame without screws, making it straightforward to replace but also susceptible to damage from car wash brushes, minor parking impacts, and UV degradation. The gloss black ABS surface is prone to visible scratching and UV fading after several years of outdoor exposure, particularly in high-UV climates. Wind noise at the A-pillar corner is frequently the first symptom of a dislodged or cracked mirror triangle trim on the Model 3 and Model Y.

| Model | Years | Position | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tesla Model 3 | 2017–2024 | Front Left — Driver Side | All variants. Revisions -00-D and -00-E are interchangeable. Confirm by VIN for 2024 (Highland) production. |
| Tesla Model Y | 2020–2024 | Front Left — Driver Side | Earlier production uses 1130655. Later production may use 1495632. Confirm by OEM number on original trim. |
Difficulty: Very Easy. The A-pillar mirror triangle trim is one of the simplest replacement procedures on the Model 3 and Model Y. No tools are required for the trim itself. The existing trim is released by prying along its inner edge; the new trim clips directly into the same mounting points. Estimated time: 2–5 minutes.
-
1Open the front left door fully. With the door open, the mirror triangle trim is visible at the junction between the mirror base and the A-pillar at the front of the door aperture. Inspect the trim for the type of damage or confirm it is the unit to be replaced before removal.
-
2Release the original trim using a flat plastic pry tool. Insert the tool along the inner edge of the trim (the edge facing the glass run seal) and pry gently outward. The trim is held by clips engaging the mirror base and door frame — work progressively from one clip to the next rather than levering at the centre, as the ABS plastic can crack if forced. If the trim is already cracked or damaged, the removal method is less critical.
-
3Inspect the clip receiver locations on the mirror base and door frame. Confirm the clip towers in the mirror base and door frame are undamaged and that the new 1130655 trim’s clip tabs will engage them positively. Clean any debris from the receiver locations.
-
4Align the new 1130655 trim with the mirror base profile and press firmly to engage the clips. The trim is designed for a specific orientation — confirm the profile matches the mirror base contour before pressing. Press progressively from one clip to the next along the trim perimeter until all clips click positively. The trim should sit flush with the mirror housing and door frame with no gaps visible from outside the vehicle.
-
5Road test at motorway speed to confirm wind noise elimination. After fitting the new trim, drive at 80–100 km/h with the windows closed and confirm the A-pillar wind noise is no longer present. If wind noise remains after fitting the new trim, the glass run seal adjacent to the mirror base should also be inspected for damage or misalignment.
| Part | Reference | Reason for Combined Replacement |
|---|---|---|
| Right A-Pillar Mirror Triangle Trim | Tesla 1130656 (front right, passenger side) | The left and right mirror triangle trims age identically — same UV exposure, same car wash impact risk, and the same ABS surface oxidation rate. If the left trim has faded or cracked, the right trim is typically at the same stage of degradation. Replacing both in the same order and same vehicle visit restores a visually consistent pair of trims across the vehicle. The 10-unit minimum order makes it straightforward to stock both numbers in equal quantities, and the very low unit value means ordering both is economical relative to the labour of a return visit to replace the second trim later. |
| Door Glass Run Seal (Front LH) | Tesla Model 3 / Model Y front left glass run seal — confirm by year | The glass run seal runs along the top and front edge of the front door and interfaces directly with the mirror triangle trim at its lower end. Wind noise at the A-pillar corner can originate from either the mirror triangle trim or the adjacent glass run seal — or both simultaneously. If the mirror triangle trim replacement alone does not eliminate the wind noise, the glass run seal should be inspected next. On high-mileage or high-age Model 3 and Model Y vehicles, the glass run seal rubber hardens and loses its sealing lip compression at the same time as UV degradation occurs on the ABS trim components, making combined inspection and replacement appropriate. |
| Skull Cap / Mirror Cover (Front LH) | Tesla Model 3 / Model Y LH door mirror skull cap — confirm by colour and production year | The mirror skull cap is the painted outer shell of the door mirror housing. On vehicles that have experienced an impact that damaged the mirror triangle trim, the skull cap is often also scratched or cracked at the mirror base where the impact that broke the trim also contacted the mirror housing. Inspecting the skull cap condition whenever the triangle trim is replaced avoids a situation where a fresh triangle trim sits alongside a visibly damaged mirror cap. The skull cap is available in body colour or gloss black (sport trim) variants — confirm the correct variant for the vehicle. |
