How to Post a Purchase Request on ok.parts: Step-by-Step Guide
A purchase request works the other way round from a search: instead of looking through offers, you post the part you want to buy and suppliers come to you with their prices. The request takes one form in the Purchase requests section of your account, and it goes live on the site as soon as you save it.
What makes a request on ok.parts different from a plain "wanted" note is the country field: you can say where you want to buy, and suppliers from anywhere quote with that destination in mind. This guide walks through the form field by field with two real examples, a genuine Toyota part for the UAE and a sensor of any brand for Brazil. The numbers in the text match the red marks on the screenshots. The screenshots were taken in October 2026; the request form currently has English labels in every language version of the account.

1. What You Need Before You Start
- An ok.parts account. If you do not have one yet, follow the registration guide.
- The exact part number and the brand it belongs to. If you are not sure of the number, see how to find an OEM part number.
- The quantity you plan to buy, in pieces.
- Optional: a target price per piece in US dollars, the country where you want to buy, photos of the part (JPG or PNG, up to 10 MB each) and a short description.
2. Open the Request Form
Sign in and open Purchase requests in the left menu of your account (1). The section lists all your requests, with a search field and a filter by status. Click + New request (2): the New purchase request form opens.
3. Fill In the Part, the Quantity and the Price
The form filled in for a genuine part
- Original Brand. Open the list and start typing to find the brand.
- Original Article Number. The part number exactly as the brand writes it.
- No brand (Neutral packing). Leave it empty if you want exactly this brand. The next section explains when to tick it.
- Part name (local language). What the part is, in any language your suppliers will understand. Start typing and the field suggests standard names such as BRAKE PADS.
- Quantity (pcs). How many pieces you want to buy.
- Target price / pc. Optional: the price per piece in US dollars you would like to pay.
- Countries. Optional: where you want to buy. See the section on countries below.
- Description. Optional: anything that helps a supplier quote, such as packaging, quality or delivery terms.
- Save request publishes the request.
Photos go at the top of the form, above these fields: drag the files into the frame or click it. They are optional but help suppliers recognize the part, especially when you are not sure of the number.
The target price is visible to every supplier. It is a guide, not a limit: suppliers can quote above it, and you can still accept a higher price if the offer suits you. Leave the field empty if you would rather see the market price first.
If a required field is empty, the form does not save and shows what is missing:
| Message | What to fix |
|---|---|
| Please select a brand | Choose a brand in the list |
| Please enter article number | Enter the part number |
| Please enter part name | Enter what the part is |
| Please enter valid quantity | Enter a quantity above zero |
4. Choose the Country Where You Want to Buy
Type part of the name (1) and tick the country (2)
The Countries field says where you want to buy the parts. It does not hide the request from anyone: every supplier on ok.parts sees it. It tells them where the goods have to go, so they can quote with delivery to that country. For example, if you ask to buy in the USA, a factory in China sees the request and quotes a price with delivery to the USA.
- Type a few letters of the country into the search line.
- Tick the country. You can tick several; each one appears as a tag under the field, and the x on a tag removes it.
Leave the field empty if the country of purchase does not matter to you.
5. Genuine Part or Any Brand: the No Brand Option
The No brand (Neutral packing) box decides how strict you are about the brand.
A request for a part of any brand, with reference photos
- Photos. Reference pictures of the part you need.
- No brand (Neutral packing) is ticked: the brand does not matter to you.
- Cross Brand. The brand whose number you know, here HYUNDAI/KIA.
- Cross Number. That brand's number, here 59910A6300. It tells suppliers exactly which part to match.
- Part name. Required here, so that a supplier of any brand knows what you are looking for.
| What you want | No brand box | What it tells suppliers |
|---|---|---|
| Exactly this brand, for example BOSCH | Empty | Only this brand will do |
| The same part from any maker, in any packing | Ticked | The number is a reference; any brand that fits is welcome |
6. After You Post: Offers and the Request Card
A saved request appears at the top of Purchase requests and goes to the site straight away: there is no moderation, and suppliers see it in the Open requests section of their accounts. The request card shows:
- The offer counter (3 on the first screenshot): how many offers suppliers have sent in reply to this request.
- View offers (4): opens the page of this part number on ok.parts, with all the offers for it that are already on the site.
- Edit (5): opens the request for changes.
Each offer shows its price, minimum order and lead time. When an offer fits, open the supplier's contacts with the Open contacts button. Depending on the rank of the supplier and the current ok.parts terms, this can be free; when it is paid, the button shows the price before you click.
The Export menu above the list downloads your requests as an Excel (.xlsx) file.
7. Edit, Close or Remove a Request
Editing a request: the fixed part details (1), the quantity (2), the countries (3), the status (4), Delete request (5), Save (6)
- Brand, number and part name are fixed once the request is saved. To ask for a different part, post a new request.
- Quantity and target price can be changed at any time.
- Countries, the description and the photos can be changed as well.
- Status. Changes how the request is shown (see the table below).
- Delete request. Sets the status to Removed. The request is kept in your account with that status; nothing on ok.parts is deleted for good.
- Save request. Applies the changes.
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Open | Live: suppliers see the request and can send offers |
| In review | You are reviewing the offers you have received |
| Closed | You no longer need the part |
| Removed | Deleted; kept in your account with this status |
8. Tips for Requests That Get Good Offers
- Be exact about the number. A supplier quotes the part that matches the number, so copy it from the old part, its box or the maker's documentation.
- Be clear about the brand. Leave No brand empty only if no other brand will do; otherwise tick it and get more offers.
- Give a realistic quantity. It sets the price level: suppliers quote differently for 20 pieces and for 2,000. See MOQ, samples and the first order.
- Name the country. A price with delivery to your country is easier to compare than a factory price.
- Add photos and a short description if the part has versions, connectors or markings that matter.
- Keep the request current. Change the quantity when your needs change and close the request when you have bought the parts.
- Keep contacts out of the request. They belong in your profile; contacts in requests get the account blocked.
9. Frequently Asked Questions
Who sees my purchase request?
Every supplier on ok.parts. The request goes live as soon as you save it, with no moderation, and suppliers find it in the Open requests section of their accounts.
What does the Countries field do?
It tells suppliers where you want to buy. It does not limit who sees the request: a supplier in any country can reply and quote with delivery to the country you chose. You can choose several countries or leave the field empty.
What is the difference between a request with and without No brand?
Without the tick you want exactly the brand you selected, for example a genuine Bosch part. With the tick the brand does not matter: the number is only a reference, and suppliers can offer the same part from any maker, in neutral packing.
Do suppliers have to meet my target price?
No. The target price is visible to all suppliers as a guide. They can quote above it, and you can still accept a higher price. The field is optional.
Can I change the part number after posting?
No. The brand, the number and the part name are fixed once the request is saved. You can change the quantity, the target price, the countries, the description, the photos and the status. For a different part, post a new request.
Can I write my phone number or WhatsApp in the description?
No. Contacts are allowed only in the Profile section of your account. Accounts that put contacts in requests, listings or photos are blocked.
